Just got two hens and a rooster.. 9Stil not sure of Breed/Age) but the previous owner did not have any eggs. He did not feed them "Layer Feed?" so I am starting them on it today.. how long until I should see eggs?

All chickens are different but they should start laying at 5-6 months old and they don't need the rooster to lay... If not I don't know what to tell you!

It will probably take at least 2 weeks while they settle into their new home, but there are no guarantees. It depends on breed, age, nutrition, hours of daylight (or artificial light), health and stress levels.

I started our layers on laying feed at 16 weeks. Our RIRs laid their first eggs at 19 weeks and the rest followed by about 24 weeks. Our course they can lay early or really late. Some chickens are stubborn, free loaders!

Feeding them layer feed is not going to make them start laying. They'll start laying when their bodies decide they're ready to.

If you could post pictures so we could maybe tell how old they are it would help. They really shouldn't be fed layer food until they are on the verge of laying.

I don't start feeding the Layer Feed UNTIL I see my first egg. Then I gradually swith over from what they are on to the Layer. I never switch anything all at once.

Hard to say when they will start laying, as stated above.

My experience has been when one starts, they all start close behind.
