How long from the external pip until baby

so I'm hatching some chicks (first time I'm so exited) and the first one has piped externaly, just wondering how long it takes to hatch?

Mine usually take about 12-24 hours after external PIP they get quite and take a nap. This is the time they are absorbing the yolk and switching from embryo breathing to lung breathing.

Sometimes I’ve had chicks hatch 1 hour later and other times 24 hours. Good luck!! I’m so excited for you!!

I have had one take 40 hours, DH helped him and he had still not finished absorbing yolk. Patience is taught very well by chicks during the hatching phase.

The chick is under a broody and it's like 90 degrees out. Will the chick dehydrate?
