I have 5 month old hens (Red Sex Links, White Leghorns, Tetra Tints, RIRs) that have been laying for about a month. I want to incubate some eggs and hatch chicks since the girls have zero interest in hatching their own chicks. Yes, I have a rooster (Partridge Plymouth Rock) and many if not all the eggs I've been cracking open are fertile. I ask because some of the eggs are still a tad small (though they are fertile) and many others are double yolkers. Is there a suggested waiting time from the first egg to a suitable hatching egg??? Thanks!
