How long should I let her sit for? Pleeeeease help!!!

well you need to turn that around and make the studying the distraction from the chicks, the more you watch the chicks the longer it will take for them to hatch, just go take a nice warm shower and relax and study, they will be here no sooner if you stand over and watch them

I'll try that

It'll be dark in a few hours, here in Australia, so my watching will have a forced break!

The chick is out! The chick is out! The chick is out!

And sooooooooooo cute! A little silkie. Now when's the next one?

Just so everyone knows that a broody hen will sit untill she doesn't want to sit any more.
This could be three weeks or this could be ten weeks.
AT any point do not try to move her as she will just return and you would have failed. Sometimes they will eat and if you see this you will get excieted, but no luck.

When the chicks arrive, ( if it the first batch ) take the chicks and put them into your brooder. This will get you a better chance for more offspring.
Only after the chicks are more than twenty weeks old and at knight will you introduce them to your flock. THROW THEM IN AND GET OUT OF THERE!!!
