My 2 female rouen ducks just recently had a nest of eggs. The first hen hatched them on her own but after seeing how they imprinted on her and are impossible to handle ( I put them in a brooder box to keep safe from snakes ) I decided to get the other nest emptied and put them in my incubator since I want this batch to be more easily handled. I feel awful for doing this to her and have now learned my lesson as to not let them set in the first place but rather gather them as they are laid then incubate them when I get a good amount. My question is how long before they start to lay again? The first momma has yet to lay any eggs and I'm just curious about mom #2. I was hoping to have a good cycle going?

I have never let rouen hens sit, but I let my muscovies hatch their own. If I let them raise their own, they will stay with the ducklings until they are 2-3 months old. Then they tend to let the ducklings go off on their own.
If I take the babies away once they hatch them, they generally start laying again around 2-3 weeks later.
