How long till they pip after they really start to rock and roll?

Thanks i really hope so to. We were kinda hoping to get at least 6 chicks out of all 15 eggs that we have(well 11 now lol. We lost 2 and hatched 2). I figure that was a good number to set my sites on. Cause if no more than that hatch then we won't be disappointed and if more than that hatch it will be a nice surprise. Another question (i know I'm asking a lot) since the first 2 that hatched are about 2 to 3 days older than the new chicks will be is it ok to put them in the brooder together?

Im sure it would be fine:/ but you better check because i am not a quail expert. I live in AZ and my cousin and i went into the desert. My cousin called in 3 different groups of gambel quail with his call and one of the groups had about 15 babies with them.

Yeah from all the research i've done says that gamble can lay up to 15 eggs in a single nest. And not all of the eggs are necessarily from the same hen. 2 hens will sometimes lay in the same nest. But i'm thinking that's why they're not all hatching at the same time is because they were all laid on different days. I'll keep looking just to be on the safe side. I would still really like to know how long it takes them to pip once they start moving. So i know when and if i need to open an air hole for them to breathe through. But the babies in the wild are so adorable. We put a seed block covered by thorny branches outside our back porch and we can watch the mama bird lead her babies right to the food while papa sits on top of the pile of sticks. We have a chicken hawk that likes to visit our property, hence the branches, so this way they're protected while they eat.

Time will tell if those little guys hatch. I should have some button and coturnix hatch in a few days but im still tring to get it at the right temp but its usually good hope I have a good hatch rate they are going into lockdown today.

It doesn't matter much when the eggs were laid, if they started incubating at the same time they should hatch at the same time. Older eggs doesn't make much difference, I think they hatch like 1/2 hour sooner for each day older, so not a big deal.

Well one of them that we thought was pipping but it had a bad smell after a few hrs. I think i can safely assume it's a bad egg and just get rid of it. It was moving just like it was about to pip though. The pressure might have just built up so bad that it was bubbling inside. Ok another 10 to go although Friday marks the 24th day that we've had them. I think by the end of day 24 we're going to just get rid of the unhatched eggs.

I think my littlest one might have an impacted craw so if i can't help then we might only have one. He was fine earlier today running around and jumping but his health turned in a matter of minutes. We gave him a lil bit of olive oil and the tiniest bit of antibiotics mixed with sugar water. We'll see what happens.

It was probably about to explode, good thing you took it out.

I would wait 3 days after the first ones hatched, then toss the rest of the eggs.

What type of bedding do you have them on? I hope you put them on paper or cloth towels for the first few days at least, so they'd learn what they were supposed to eat?
