how long to hold eggs before incubation

I know this has most likely been put on here b4 but heres goes one more time Hold long can you hold eggs b4 incubating b4 they arent any good? I know the fertility rate drops after x-number of days but how long is that ? I have always held mine for a week b4 incubating and have had great hatches But I am not sure how long they can be held b4 they start going bad :|

I held eggs for 4 weeks and then incubated them. All 4 developed, and 3 hatched.

4 WEEKS ? Is that some kind of record? I would figure by then they were dog omelets

I had my eggs in the refridgerator for 23 days before setting them in my incubator. I had 24 out of 28 hatch..healthy,active lil' fuzzy-butts lol.

I didnt keep them in my fridge. I kept them in my basement where it was around 50-60 degrees. I wanted to see if they would hatch after that long, and they did, and I even got a splash silkie chick out of one of those 4 week old eggs.
