The title says it all. How long would the turkey experts suggest for "homing" a new Narraganset trio. All three are Spring 2009 hatches so approximately 1 year old.

Whoops! I'm sorry; I must not have been clear. They are a new to me trio that is one year of age. I am bringing them home as adult birds later this week. Just wondering for those who have brought home adult turkeys in the past, how long that have homed them (kept them penned) before free-ranging. We've only ever started with poults, this will be our first set of started turkeys. With chickens I play it by ear and have never had a problem, but being a whole different species I would like some personal experience testimony to give me a little piece of mind.

30 days, unless royal palm (90 days) sooner if you turn them to birds already there! or maybe 1 at a time at first! always feed in pen so birds return every day! tom!!!

I let mine out the first day and watch them for about an hour or two. I love them, but make sure u feed them there, and put them in the barn and repeat every day. By a week or two, you'll be good.

Thanks for the recommendations, all.

There are chickens and ducks here but no existing turkeys for them to be turned out with -- we lost our last turkeys last summer and haven't had any since.
