20 degrees F right now, a low of 5!!! The coldest temps we have had yet so far this season. I feel bad for the chickens honestly. We cant run heat out to the coops if we wanted. one of my girls is conveniently (sarcastic) molting right now.

Noon Thirty. Water containers froze up over night. Time to beg, borrow, and steal all the cardboard I can find.

... And I was able to get the cardboard I needed. I have a buddy that works for a tool & die shop. They are always trying to get rid of their boxes.

I spent most of the evening tonight cutting and stapling cardboard to the inside of the coop walls to create a "dead air space". The chickens were good company. My "alpha hen" was playing the part of "Inspector 12"

I'm in No. Central West Virginia...it was -11 (that's not a typo, yes MINUS 11 Degrees) this morning! I hope I don't find chicken-pops when I go to feed and water this morning!

Yesterday, the radio said Alaska was averaging 40 degrees, it was -5 here at the time! I don't like the heat, but this is CRAZY COLD!

How frozen are you guys???
