My eggs are on day 21 and they are Wyandotte Bantam eggs. Is this abit too long for Bantam eggs ? I thought they would be hatching at Day 18 or 19 but there is absolutely no pipping or anything. When is the latest time to wait ? Should I discard them at a certain point if there is no sign of life ? This is my first hatch (under a Broody) and I don't know anything. If these eggs are dud ones, should I get some more but would the broody stay on them for an extra 20 days ? She seems more than happy to sit there forever but i wonder if she will simply get bored.

My bantams are always 21 days. If the eggs are fertile, there is no reason for them not to hatch. Do you hear any noises when you put them to your ear? If they are not internally pipped by now it usually means the eggs got chilled for a while if the hen sat on the wrong nest. If you are sure of the dates, I would wait until at least day 25.

Give them to at least day 25, If they are good you should be getting pips soon. Did you candle at all ??

As far as putting more eggs under an already broody hen.....don't even think about it. I thought I could "trick" our girls. No doing. As soon as 22-23 days came with no action, they were up and out of the broody phase. They both left the nest as if some internal clock said...."Come on Tallulah...we're wasting our time here" and never looked back. I thought they might actually be upset when I took their eggs out of the coop, but they both kind of looked at me like..." Hey, good luck with those things. We got NOTHING!"

I had to made a homemade bator to finish the rest of the hatch... and this morning we got our 1st pip.

Every animals instincts are so unique to their breed. Our Creator is very cool that way!

I have a standard OEG hen that sat for almost 2 months, before we felt pitty on her and got her some chicks!

And most all of my bantams hatch around day 19, some on day 18 and some later, but mostly on day 19. And none of them are seramas.
