How long were you on Bev Davis waiting list?

Quote:
I'll probably be getting a hold of you next month or sometime in July.

After visiting your site I have to try to keep myself under control and stay with the FBCMs but I live Blue birds. LOL

Well, now I think I have 2 girls and 2 roos from the Davis line via Greenfire farms. They're only about 2.5 weeks, but two have larger, redder combs and thicker legs. These chicks are incredibly solid and eat SO MUCH! Check out those feathered feet. The suspected male ones already have copper color around the necks.

I am real happy with the roo I got from greenfire farms from the Bev Davis line.

I heard him do the warning crow yesterday - - - I think he got spooked by the noise the pot belly pigs were making
big_smile.png

He has the regular "I am rooster, Hear me" Crow, too.

He has two young welsummers and another FBCM roo in there with him. At night, he takes his two pullets to the roost and the other roo has to sleep somewhere else. He is gentle with everyone, but definately the LEADER.

He has copper eyes whereas the other FBMC does not

I was hoping they would change into the copper color, but they didn't.

So, I will be rehoming him.

He came from Greenfire farms too, but not the Bev Davis Line

Watch your guys eyes and let me know at what age they start turning into copper color - - PLEASE.

NICE - VERY NICE - Pictues New Hen. Love the rich black of these birds. Can you see the green sheen in the feathers yet ? ?

Well, I just noticed that the eye color on two of them is starting to change. The eyes were very dark before and are starting to look orangish. One of the supposed pullets is getting a copper neck too.

NEW HEN - - - Those feathered feet are gorgeous.
I think yours might be more handsome than mine

I swear mine have the biggest feet. If they are like dogs and their body grows to catch up with the feet - - -
my greenfire roo is going to be BIG and I mean REALLY BIG

So how old are they now - - - since your eyes are starting to turn orange ? ?

It makes no sense that Bev emailed me and told me she would put me on her waiting list - -- - - if she was selling her flocks and not going to sell to individuals any more.

Slightly odd, I got an email from her too, saying she will put my on the waiting list.....why would she say that if she is selling them off?

The marans forum is full of positive references to Lisa and Gary Cree at Cree Farm in Washignton State.
Supposedly, their stock is Bev Davis line.

I'll keep looking for somebody closer to the SF Bay area.

I have to agree! I have four BCM Pullets from Lisa and I have some Blue Marans eggs in the Bator right now!!!!

Lisa Cree is a great person to work with!

This past weekend, I noticed the eye color was different than their original darker eyes and they hatched on May 19 & 20, so they're ~2.5 weeks old. I guess the heavily feathered feet is not the standard, but I still like them. I'm not breeding them anyway, these are pets for us.

I don't know that there is a "standard" about how feathered that their feet should be. I, personally, would prefer heavily feathered feet. You know the saying - - - go BIG on go Home ! ! ! !

BRING ON THE FEATHERED FEET
