How long we're your chicks in the mail?

Thanks. I'll try! Also, I have one chick who keeps twitching and he lays on his side and won't/can't get up. What is his problem?

So I think I've lost 6 chicks already out of the 16! 2 more will not make it to morning and then 2 more are weak. I'm so sad, but at least I have a few (hopefully) healthy babies. Is it shipping stress that is killing my babies or something else? By the way, before they die they usually go in a corner and lay on their sides and start twitching or just lay still.

If your chicks spent that extra day in the mail, they certainly could be stressed. It is sad when they have a hard time.

Do you have a thermometer in there? Could they tbey be too hot?

How is their breathing? Hopefuly its not respiratory illness. Well my 6 weak ones came around by me keeping them in a smaller area and about every hour I would encourage drinking and eating the damp food. I used just plain sugar about two table spoons in a gallon jug mixed well with warm water in a low bowl. but if you do use damp food change it out after a few hours or it will go bad and hurt not help. Hope it helps good luck!

So right now I have 9 chicks alive. 2 of those won't be here much longer and another is weak and smaller. Their breathing sounds fine except I heard a few sneezes (like 2). Also when one would drink (a weak chick) I could hear 'clicking' sounds.

Hoover has a 48 hour policy they will issue a refund or send more depending on how many are lost. I lost 3 in a shipment that took 4 or 5 days in november.

I gave them electrolytes and vitamins and probiotics in water right away and showed them the food. I may have made a slurry with the food so they could digest it quickly. I used medicated chick crumbles. I still lost some. I got a refund.
