how long will hens lay

yep right there with you on these topics. I think if we could wake more people up to how animals are treated and slautered more people would either raise there own or go vegetarian or buy from people they know so they can know what is going on. I worked at a feed store for a time, one of the fumiest and most rewarding jobs I have ever had. anyway heard stories of cattle being pumped up with drugs to get them across the scale before they collapse and the people who did this will never buy meat from stores and such because it happens all the time.. my dad ust to say weep at any death animal or human and make it count for something..and he got really mad if we threw food out. especially meat... I know this is kinda off base for backyard chickens but we need all walks of life from tech geeks to old timers who don't know how to use e-mail, know a lot of seniors do, so don't get mad at me, but I have friends who don't know how to use a computer much but they can build a home from the floor up and could live without going to the store for like a year i swear, and really we need all these walks of like to pull our country back from the state it is headed for. oh crap my soap box is starting to squeak so I better get off it. I just want to say the times they are a changing heck Dillon knew it why back when, I just wish more people were not afraid to admit it, and would work together to get these ones that are poising our bodies and minds with all this bad food and bad info.

ok so I looked and the chicken in question has what I think is a pea comb,

I will try to get a picture but it is just like the one on the first thread here the black and white one called iron man...

oops just realized this was the wrong thread that does not have the photo of the chicken iron man in it. GEES I can be such a dits, lol lol lol. I blame it on this sinus infection I have. how the heck did settlers deal with this stuff I give up and I am going to the doc am. I will get pictures of my Cochin hopefully when I can bend down. now I feel like my head will fall off if I bend over. I want to also check the neck feathers to see maybe they are male. I love the birds but need to cull the flock a bit for winter do to feed cost and no one wanting eggs. I sell them for 3.00 a dozen that is about what it cost me it is on the lite side but I just want to break even. how do you all decide which birds to get rid of and how do you get rid of them, sell them or eat them. the reason i ask is where would you sell them...
