Not sure if I understand it correctly but, are you using the 'sharpie' directly on the eggs? If so STOP. The shell is porous and that ink can seep into the egg itself. I use a crayon as it is non-toxic wax and will not leach into the shell. I have kept eggs in the fridge for a couple of months and they were fine. In fact, I have found that if I'm going to hardboil them it is best to use eggs that are 3 weeks old or more as they shell so much easier. Even though they are fine, I do not give or sell eggs that are much more than 2 weeks old. People just dont get it that the eggs they get at the store are often older than that when they buy them. They assume that they are "new" when they get them.
