We have our 10 little chicks in the basement right now. They are doing the things chickens do, and generally look happy.

We are using a Mr. Turtle Pool as a brooder, (see here: http://ravens-rook.blogspot.com/2010/04/mighty-tiny-chicken-ranch.html ) and it has a diameter of about 36". The chicks are just over a week old. It has occurred to me that they will soon outgrow the pool. I don't want to split our flock since I fear they won't re-integrate well. How long can you keep 10 chicks in a 3-foot diameter pen?

Once its time to upgrade their condo, how big of a living space am I looking at before they are ready to move outside? Will 10 birds fit in a fridge box?

Yes they will fit into a fridge box for a while. Depends on how long you plan on keeping them inside. If you have access to fridge boxes you could tape 2 together, or just plan for them to go out to the coop. Good luck
