Yes I certainly have faith in your decision at the time.
When we are under extreme stress, we cannot think logically, i would have done exactly the same.
I also had to evacuate in 2001 here. no fun at all.

Contact the ASPCA or even firefighters. They WILL rescue or at least give your birds water if they won't let you return. If it were me I would just go around the roadblocks, but that is me there is little that fazes me once I have my mind set. I hope your house makes it. I have two friends already that lost everything. One of those was made worse by the Moms bad planning, she took all her/daughters CD collection all 10,000 cds and didn't have time for the heirlooms or computer (the computer is replaceable until she remembered just how much she had on it). They lost everything, heirlooms passed down 5 generations gone for stupid CDs. As much as I want to call her out on it, she has already been through enough. Like someone said hindsight is 20/20.

I also have a friend that had a miracle house. His and one of his neighbors are the only ones that made it in that whole area, AMAZING!

PS They caught two arsonists today. One was shot and killed, he should have stayed in Arizona.

Well yesterday after a hike i made it home about 6 pm. I walk into the backyard and to my amazement find my chickens cruising around the backyard. It seems that the winds actually blew the front door off the coop! Didnt even lose anyone, they quickly enjoyed some water and food before i captured and secured them. Today i have to fix the coop door. My house didnt burn, a few neighbors on my street were not so lucky. I would just like to say thank you to everyone here for their support. Please keep the good people of san diego in your prayers as the nightmare is not over for everyone yet.
