How long without food?

Hello! When I left school the chickens had a decent amount of food, but now I’m worried that maybe it wasn’t enough and I don’t have access to food right now. It is locked in another teacher’s room. How long can seven day old chicks go without food? Do they sleep all night even with the heated lamp in the brooder?

They will survive overnight, assuming you'll be back tomorrow. It can cause a great deal of stress though. If you'll be back in a reasonable about of time I'm sure they'll be fine. How much food did they have? They sleep on and off, I think the bright light does make it harder. The biggest concern is how much food they waste when they scratch it out of the feeder.

Thank you! I just ran over and checked on them. I think it will be enough to get them through until 7. Whew!
