How long should the mother stay with her chicks? I have them seperated in a very small cage away from the others cause they were picking on the babies. Also how long till I can put the babies with the general population? Thanks...

Being new myself I can only address the putting babies with the general population part of your question. I've been told that you want to wait until the babies are the same size as the rest of the adult birds. So, probably around 18-20 weeks before they can be together.

It depends on your situation.

Ideally, they should be about the same size as the chickens they are going to be with. If you have to do it earlier, make sure they have plenty of room to get away from the other chickens and provide a few hiding spots like pieces of plywood leaning against the fence, etc.

I am so glad you asked that question because I want my chicks (2) out of my garage and in the coop! My coop chicks are 3 months old and my garage chicks are 4 weeks old. I tried introducing them a while ago and had a disaster. I want to try again soon!!
