How long?

Well crap😂. I guess the every night repetition will maybe give them a hint. I kinda goofed up while they were in the brooder. I never gave them any type of roost bar. But once they could lift off with their wings they were roosting on the edge of the edge of the stock tank. So I figured they'd take right to it in the coop.
I don't bother giving babies a roost any more, didn't seem to make any difference as far as if they'd roost or not once they moved in with the adults. It's too bad yours didn't follow the adults and learn to roost from them, which is how my chicks figure it out.

As far as how to get them to roost, do they have a separate roost they can use, or is it just 1 long bar with the adults? A second (even if temporary) one might help. Otherwise you're doing it right, putting them on it to give them the hint.
