How loud are call ducks really?

Gosh they are so cute! Two drakes would make a quieter pair? I am really set on call ducks as they are just so adorable!

Jpat is correct, males will still try to mate each other sometimes. I’m not sure how aggressive the drive would be if there weren’t any females around though. I don’t think they would actually hurt each other. My boys chase each other around, but they still get along very well.

And yes they can fly. Mine take flights across the yard quite often, and have flown over the fence, but they come back. (I had one disappear above the tree tops, I watched him fly away. After walking a mile looking for him, I gave up and he returned on his own about an hour later) Their secured area is covered with netting. So you could either keep them confined, or clip a wing.

Wow! That's a wild price. The gal I get my critter feed from gave my mine last year. I will be returning the favor and giving most of them away to my cousin. Definitely keeping a few, though. Plus, mine are just little grays. Nothing fancy.View attachment 1753624

:love adorable

Ya know, my little gray girl is my quietest. She’s the most laid back too. I have several of her eggs incubating now, and another set of eggs that came from my silver/white hen that i lost to a fox, and another set that a broody abandoned! :D
My other broody hatched a bunch, but it was still cold and we lost a few. She now has 5 that are 3 weeks old

Call hens are louder than roosters. You can not keep them in town.
Call drakes can be kept in town. They talk more often but are quiet. I've sold some of my extra drakes to someone who just wanted pond fowl before.

So-
I can keep a pair of call drakes without bothering my neighbors? Im honestly not entirely sure my neighborhood allows birds, although there is no specific ban of anything in any of their documents. My quail haven't caused any issues. I'd have a pen with a big pool and probably would keep their wings clipped.

I think that would be fine.
