How many chances do you give a hatchery ?? When is it enough??

I"ve recently ordered from them about two weeks ago and had a screw-up, called them and they did send the right amount two weeks later along with five day old roosters this time. I'll just raise them (roosters) for the freezer but it was still frustrating as well not to mention the money issue. I hear good things as well and everyone makes mistakes, if they can fix the problem and do it in a reasonable time I can handle that, thats life and everyone makes mistakes from time to time but I can't handle a smart mouth person when they are in the wrong. I would defanitly change but other than my inconvience with Idea Poultry I was satisfied with the results all-in -all. My mom doesn't trust the computer so she uses the phone w/ Ideal when ordering chicks, the people r really friendly I really think its easier.

I think I found a semi-local Buff Orps so if the order is a bad one this time I'll go there. They have a website and from that they look really pretty. And they have older pullets and babies....I may go there anyway...

ok heres my 2 cents. my main issue with hatcheries isn't their customer service or if they get the sexing wrong or even the money issue i can deal with all of those things. its the dead and dieing chicks i get when i open up that box its like constant worry till they are 2 weeks at least for me. i have now turned to using privette hatcheries here in new mexico they are a lonnng ways still but in the same state not that it matters. now i have heard people say bad things bout them that they ordered this and got that or they were not nice on the phone blah blah wahh wahh u know the typical complaints but when it comes down to it in these matters to me its aare they alive and healthy i have found very few reports on unhealthy chicks from them and they have really good prices too . i have dealt with murry mcmurray, ideal, meyer and a bunch of other and guess what dead babies in all of them in mass numbers no less. with privetter believe it or not i have yet to get a dead baby from them and my brother in NV has only gotten 1 in over 200 so theres my vote on hatgchery choice and the issues at hand. on how many chances to give them 2 thats it thats all if they come dead 2 times and not to mention all the financial stuff and other thing give up find who fits u the best

Well I am done with Ideal... they sent me a bill today for the chicks that I have already paid for and was double charged...Calling in the am about this

I think once I get these 2 orders from meyer,I think I am done with the mail order thing.They are sending out some replcement chicks today and if I dont have a good survival rate ,I am gonna try to get my money back,if they wont do that,I am just gonna tell them to hold my order till it cools down or maybe next spring.

well, the replacement order of chicks arrived today,friday, after being shipped monday ,and surprizingly all 25 were alive but one looked bad and died within an hour ,but all the rest look good for now.I was a little worried them since the first thing they did was get soaking wet fighting over the waterer.but they got under the light and have calmed down and are eating and drinking great.Meyer has been great and I cant really complain about the customer service .hopefully the first batch was the exception ot the heat got them.Got 25 rir s shipping out monday so hope they make it.
