Hmm, 1 cuckoo maran roo, 1 buff silkie... that's only two, a reasonable number.
Now, let's see, there's ten 8 week old pullets and one 8 week old cockrel so that is 11 + 2. Only 13 so far... very reasonable.
Oh, now let's not forget the meat chickens who are 8 weeks old also, there's 10 of them so we are up to 23 chickens now. Not so bad.
Oh, and I can't forget the 4 week olds, there's 4 of them, a welsummer roo and his 3
TSC friends. So add 4 to 23, and we have 27 chickens.
Not addiction level yet, right?
Oh, and the one week olds that I hatched out on Mother's day. There's 7 of them (because 9 died in the cold snap from the 16 original hatchlings) so add 7 to 27 to get 34.
Really?? Thirty-four? no way...Oh, and don't forget the 8 hatchlings from Friday, sweet babies are only 2 days old and peeping here next to the computer. Now, let's add that up... 8 + 34 = 42.
Forty-TWO?? I suppose if you add the 5 ducks to the bird total, nah, we don't want to do that....
I might look like some kind of addict if we did that.
I have 42 chickens and 5 ducks.
