How many chickens on how much land?

I'm on about 18 acres. My 16 birds only go about 100 - 150 ft when they range. They are shut in a run when we leave. I keep food in their coop and they don't feel they need to go farther I guess. Well the silkies are home bodies. They are rarely 10 ft from the run and prefer hanging in there.

.25 of an acre in town and we've got 4 hens, soon we'll be getting two more. ours are kept in a coop/run. the oldest two are allowed out in the yard sometimes but we have to watch for hawks

I have 15 acres and about 40 chickens right now but they never range more than about 150 yards but my coops are only about 40 feet from the woods. Funny thing is the only birds i've ever lost was when they were in the open to a hawk.

We have 2.5 acres and 15 chickens. We have an enclosed run and I'm working on some temporary paddocks that we can use instead of free ranging, and move them periodically.

We live on .48 acres in town. The girls have the entire backyard to play in (at least 1/3 acre. They are out from 6 AM till 8:30 PM. Neighbors cats are afraid of them. Almost forgot. we have 3 EE,2 Cochins and a JG. Planning on getting 3 more in a month.

5 acres, 52 ducks, 9 geese. But they are never allowed out. They live inside a square pen that is 140 feet along each side.
