How many chickens??

I use a heat panel for my coop.

I know there are horror stories about heat lamps , but I have to say I bought a cozy heating panel and it worked for a few months then stopped heating , they sent me a replacement and I smelled burning in the coop , we took it off the wall and there were black singe streaks on the back , took apart the sealed electric box to find burnt wires... they offered us a new one , (no thanks)it was a wake up call for us .

I’d rather use a regular heat lamp with a ceramic socket on a thermostat or timer. Chain it up with two chains for safety and you’re done . They’ve been around for years and work well.

That’s my 2 cents about these heaters and yes I got it from amazon .

Wow, that is scary!! Thankfully ours hasn't had any problems going on year 3 now. I will definitely take a look at, behind, and inside it before winter arrives. Although they are moving to the barn this year as we got 12 more chickens so probably won't need to use it at all. Thanks so much!

One problem with heat lamps, even if they are secure... is a cold gust of wind on the hot bulb can shatter the bulb.

The shards aren't always hot enough to burn down a coop... but shards of glass aren't good either.
