Haha! It's a recipe from my great grandmother for a pancake type dessert. You put syrup on top. It looks wild when you cook it, the shapes are fun. I'll post the recipe in a little bit.

One of the highest laying chicken is the Austrolop(sp). Its a black hen, olive colored eggs.
Record has it a hen laid 364 eggs in one year. She took a day off to rest.

I don't know the cost of your feed, but if you can tell how much each chick will eat, you can then price the feed and figure it out.

Leghorns are small, so you should assume that larger breeds would eat more, although I don't know how much more.

Apparently it's also called a Dutch Baby or German Pancake. Here is a recipe. It sounds like the exact same one I use. They're so yummy and only takes like 15 minutes to make.

Most hens lay 1 egg a day. There will be some that only lay 3 or 4 a week so the breed will make a big difference

So if 30 chicks each eat 20 pounds of feed that's 600 pounds of feed
At 50 pounds per bag, that's 12 bags
Times $20 per bag is $240

I rounded the feed consumption up a little to make the math easier. You might still need more than this if you have large breeds (brown egg layers). If they waste very much, that will definitely increase the amount of food you need. Or you could need less, if you're figuring to only 15 weeks old, because the number I found is for 20 weeks.

If you want a per-bird estimate, you should be able to feed 2-3 chickens to point-of-lay from one bag of chicken food, so you could just say $10 per bird for feed. It may not cost quite that much, but $10 makes a really convenient number to work with if you're trying to find cost-per-bird to compare with pullets for sale.
