Golden Brahma 64
Songster
She's about a year old and so is her husband.
I think I might just let the lone egg sit in the nest box for a few days and see if more eggs collect there, and hope she goes broody. If not, I will get an incubator and just try to hatch it that way after 10 days or so. She is an Oriental Gamefowl and from what I read they are good at hatching eggs by themselves unlike commercial egg laying chickens where they breed them to just lay eggs and move along to lay more. Question though, after the first egg..... how many more days until she deposits her last egg? I want to know what kind of window I'm working.
By the way how many hens do you have ? It sounds like you only have a hen and a rooster, it’s best get a few more hens as roosters can over mount hens to the point where they have bear backs, it’s best have 4 hens for your rooster. Since you’re planning on hatching eggs you could end up with even more roosters. If you’re planning on having more than one rooster, the ideal number of hens per rooster is 10 -15. Do you have a plan for where the roosters will go when you hatch your eggs ?
