How many different kinds of Silkie are there?

aren't they though? I just can't get the thought out of my mind to glue little rhinestones to their necks, with some kind of easy to remove adhesive that wouldn't hurt to remove them. I think they could be accessorized to go with ANY outfit!!! The ultimate purse pet, doncha think? And every now and then you get to pull out an egg to show your friends!

Where oh where oh how did you get the red silkie???? I just picked up 4 little silkies, I am new to them. 2 years ago someone dropped off an all white silkie and my son fell in love with the "baby". Sadly a year later a fox snatched it up. Broke his 4 year old heart. Have no clue even what my little 4 ones will be. They are going to live with our 40 8 wk to 1 yr old birds. But your reds are GORGEOUS!!!!!

When talking about silkies, how do you describe the large combs vs the pea, ( almost nonexistent comb with the poofball head?) I'm looking for a roo and most for sale have a large comb. This is not what I want. So how do I describe what I'm looking for correctly?

All silkies should have what's called walnut combs.
Of course females have smaller combs then males when mature. Hens have fuller crests then the males also.
Comb size and crest size can of course vary from line to line and bird to bird.
I take it you're looking for smaller combs and larger crest?
Just explain to who you're looking into just that and see what their breeding stock tend to have.

We have one white silkie, Marshmallow, and we LOVE her! She is so sweet and soft and the cutest little chicken ever! One thing interesting about the silkies is that they have 5 toes on each foot. When I first saw Marshmallow's foot, it was quite a sight!
