How many duck eggs did you get today?

I got 7 which surprised me. Since they watched me help catch the 7 drakes I rehomed yesterday it will be interesting to see how many I get today. Hopefully I did not upset them too badly. Usually I don't help and am gone when I have to do this but I needed to learn a lesson on not letting ducklings hatch out of a hen that throws off 99% drakes and it was a lesson learned. From now on I will be buying sexed Hens online if I feel the need to have any ducklings or ducks.

Got 1! Of course, it's a Muscovy egg, so going to leave it there and see if mom lays more and sits.

5 good looking strong shelled eggs. Go ducks!

... And another kinda-soft-shelled one from yesterday found in the orchard. It is now a regular occurence that as our ducks start laying they first "practice" with soft shells and unusual times of the day. This one must have appeared during the afternoon rain.

A-ha, case in point about practice eggs: just found +1 in the kiddie pool. It's noon in our timezone.

I got 4. My Mallards were not happy with me for letting the other Mallards go down the road the day before. They are holding out on me.

I was surprised to see on here that you can eat the soft shelled ones. I have too always pitched mine. I might try boiling one the next time I get one.

I'm just done boiling the most recent 2 ... they are super easy to peel, just pinch through soft envelope and pull it all off.

I got 5 today. No soft shell, it's a rare thing for me and they just lay them on the ground so I don't know if I could clean them well enough to eat or not????
