How many egg in one day?

I just started getting eggs this week(Newbie) . I got first on 2/2 then,one on 2/3 then another on 2/4. Then sunday i did not check them. Got up Monday and checked before work and had one.Monday I got happy when I had 2 eggs after i got home from work. Thought I was doing real good having two egg in one day from 4 hens. Then today Tuesday, after work i checked and I had 5 eggs ! And that is from 4 hens.
Have any one ever known of a chickenlaying 2 eggs in 24 hours?
