how many eggs are chickens supposed to lay a day?

I'll let you know. I have to admit, they are pretty small eggs too. I only had 1 regular sized one. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings, it's like Christmas morning

I just fixed the eggs this morning for my boys. I "large" one that I got was a double yolker!!! My girls are the best!! As soon as it's daylight, I'll go see what they have for me this morning!

I know how you feel! In the last 3 weeks, I've gotten at least 3 dozen eggs from my chickens, and I'm quite sure only 6 of the 8 are laying! They were all on the small side the first 2 weeks, but now, suddenly, the eggs are increasing in size! Haven't had an "abnormal" egg yet! (Knock on wood) I just can't get over how well the hens are doing.

my girls have now leveled off, down to just 1 egg a day per hen. Today when I went down to get them, one of my girls (JR) ran in to cluck at me and show off her present for me! So proud!!
