I have 2 red sexlinks (19 weeks) that just started laying yesterday, and I already got 4 eggs, 3 of which came today. I thought they were only supposed to lay 1 per day, and I know one of the girls had to lay 2 today.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm so excited to get my first eggs!! One of my girls is laying tiny eggs and the others first egg was big. I wish I knew which one was which!

but what is a "normal" amount to lay per day?

Are you absolutely positive you don't have a new layer.

the rest of my chickens are only 10 weeks old. My 2 sexlinks are 19 weeks. I would think 10 weeks is way too young to lay.

It's uncommon, but you can get 2 eggs from a chicken, in a day. I have 4 hens and twice this year have gotten 5 eggs, in a day. That's the only two times that has happened in 6 years.

I know this sounds crazy, but I just went out to the coop and found another egg!!! That's 5 eggs in 2 days from 2 hens!!

Do you have a neighbor that likes to play practical jokes? I read a post earlier today about a lady whose chickens had just started to lay, but she got 6 eggs from 4 chickens. Turns out 2 of those eggs were hard-boiled!!

I don't have neighbors. And I could tell they were fresh layed. One had a "film" over the top...

I think I just have super girls!!
