How Many Eggs Did Those Hens Lay Today?

I get around 6-11 a day.

Today I got 7 eggs from the ladies.

I there! I have, let’s say, 37 laying hens. Some are young...so, I’m not sure if they are laying, but they should be close, if not started yet. I have lights on a timer. I feed all flock 60% of the time, and layer 18% the other times. My hubby also gives them beer grain when I’m not looking, which, is an old farmer thing that chickens absolutely love. They just eat the seeds inside the oats. They also get treats... I average 24 eggs from them a day. I realize that some of them are not fully grown....but...when they are...what should I expect from 37 hens? I have RIR, NHR, EE BO, Bue O, black sex links, white rock, ISA brown. Only the ISA brown are older. I’m guessing they are about 2 years. they are good solid layers.

You can look up how many eggs per week to expect from each breed and that may help! I think even best layers lay about 5-6 eggs a week, and you have a lot of breeds known for their laying.

So far I've had 5 eggs today from 14 hens. They don't all lay right in the morning and am expecting to find a few more eggs this afternoon. I found this giant egg under my silkie, who has decided to try and be a mama. It weighs 105 g, whereas a typical egg from my flock weighs around 50-60 g, and the eggs from my new layers are around 40 g.

I took the giant egg from my silkie's clutch so she would have more room for the 5 other eggs she's sitting on.

Update on my hens...they are laying like crazy! Some days I only get 26,27...other days I’ll get 31,32! So, I can’t complain! Other than..twice my husband has lost the evening eggs!! Literally!! We have a very big farm...but the coop is close to the house! You’d think he’d drop them off before going back out for more chores? Totally screws up my egg counts! but, luckily it’s still freezing here, so when we do find them, they’ll be just fine!
