How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

...so whatcha think??
hmm sounds like you are doing a great job with the chickens, they are getting at least 16%-20% chicken/flock formula feed correct??

The light issue would surprise me to stop them suddenly and fast like they did but if you had cold dark rainy days for a week or more that could have inturupted their lay cycle.....

All chickens seem strong and heavy or full when you hold them? No noticable parasites? red combs and wattles?

I feed mine layer pellets 20% and crumbles 16% in two different feeders, not nessisary, but I had both, and they seem to like the crumbles....Just Before they go to roost now that the days have shortened and it's getting cooler, I lay down in a strip about 6 feet long a cup( for 7 hens) of cracked corn, just to ensure they have a full crop to go to roost with.

If it were me, I would give it a week or two more with the lights on at least 14 hrs a day, and if they didn't start laying try taking a poo sample from several birds together and get it checked for parasites.

One thing, and I hope it is not what is going on is, do you think it's possible you have an egg eater?? It is very common??

Holding steady at 8 eggs a day. I was hoping for 10 or 11 today since they had been slacking but ill take what they give me.
It's been cold and rainy here for the last few weeks too but today was nice and sunny so maybe they will be happy chickens tomorrow .

Hehe, ive been getting three eggs from three layers a day for a bit now im wondering what and when the molt is like as all three of my layers are over a year old and have yet to molt...

I have four other girls about 22 weeks old now that im waiting for the first eggs from...

Yes they seem to be fat and healthy...no noticable signs of parasites. Egg eater-I don't think so, I go out several times a day and check on them, let them out. When I'm out there I check on them..look in their coop, nest boxes..

I'm trying to keep it a constant light source-turn it on the same time every morning, turn it off the same time at night, let them out at the same times, feed them the same time. When they were laying their eggs were perfect, hard nice shell, they smelled fresh, and yummy. Their yolk was a very pretty yellow and firm so I can't imagine it to be the food....

I truly hope that these new things I'm doing is going to get them going..it will be a week sat when I did the new changes...I know my daughter will be so sad if any of them are sick...where would I take the poo samples, we don't have a vet that does farm animals around here...

Thanks

7/11 today.
It's been getting dark at about 6:30 pm here now so I am considering turning the light on in the coop, but their pop door doesn't close until 7pm (auto door) so I'm not sure if the light will deter them from coming in to roost? I don't want them to roost outside or to get locked out.
