How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Only 4. Lazy fluffy butts.

And while my Cubalaya seems to have forgotten the broody thing, one of the Faverolles picked it up! She was in a foul (or is that fowl) mood any time any of the other girls got near the nest. At first I thought she was just in there to lay when I opened the coop at 8. Went back out at 11:30, worked until 2:30 including replacing the dividers in the box with taller ones thinking she would be less annoyed. Saw one of Persephone's green eggs under her at that time. When it came time to leave, I moved her off the nest and collected the green egg. She had also laid at some point after I replaced the dividers.

Stupid chicken, no rooster, no fertile eggs. No fertile eggs, no sense sitting on them.

Do you mean your younger chickie?
Yes, we have two RIRs that are almost 6 months old, but they are the youngest girls in the hen house (we have some younger but they are in a different coop). The two RIRs have just been refered to as "the babies" since they came home. They have been in with the "big girls" for almost 3 months now, but this was a first egg! My husband sent me a pic while I was at work. I had to do a happy dance! So excited. I didn't think they would lay til the weather warmed up and the days got a bit longer! It takes very little to please me............ :p

Um, you haven't been hitting the sherry while cooking with it have you?

I don't know. THREE in one day seems pretty unlikely. How many breeds do you have and how easy is it to tell who laid a given egg?

Is that 2-3 eggs since April or 2-3 eggs per week? And what breed is she?

Our greatest fear! I'm sure it will happen to me one day, hopefully not soon.

My girls gave me even half dozen today.

That was 2-3 eggs since April not weekly I would be good with 2-3 weekly from her. She pretty much stopped laying. 3 in one day ?

poor baby she would be in soooo much pain doing that. Could you imagine giving birth daily? That is how I relate to them laying not a treat.

6 again today and they are enjoying the mild and sunny day by spending as much time outside as possible!
I went out and threw some sunflower seeds into the run and they came running out for them, last week I couldn't get them to do that for any kind of treat.

Hmm, not even 2 years old and shut down at 1 year old? Since they don't even start laying until they are ~5 months or older, a 6 to 7 month laying lifetime? That doesn't sound so good.

Only 5 today. Still, one better than yesterday. Stupid Anais is sitting on the empty nest AGAIN today. Doesn't bode well for eggs from HER!
