How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3 out of three but yesterday I only had 1. How many seasons do  they continue laying? Mine are  from March 2012 and have been laying  since beginning of Sept 2012
they will lay for a few years very well, then slow down after the second or third year. , mine are two years old( 3 are) and still lay almost every day. You got a few good years left, and then they slow down a bit. :)

My Speckled Sussex layed her first egg so it is 6/6 today woo hoo! I have three more that should be laying soon.

I'm not sure if a specific breed lays them. I get plum and lavender occasionally from some Penedesencas but I think that is when the chemical that applies the dark brown is missing in their system leaving only the elements that would result in a deep reddish brown.
I was getting the occasional pink egg from Jersey Giants and Orpingtons.

till last september, I had 3 very old hens. At one point they stopped laying at the start of the very hot summer, 2011,and suddenly spring of 1012, i started getting one egg a day, most days.
No idea which one was laying. and I don't know how old the were either. they had been given to me several years before.
Is hard to say how many years they really will lay any. Seems to be a variable. I also recall reading they can live something like 14-15 years.
I had also read that the lay about 2 years full tilt, then slow down. And that the commercial egg factories then cull them.
I kept the old ones going till the chicks I raised last year were pretty well grown.
Did not have the heart to put the old ones down, so I gave them away...

Yesterday was 2 eggs, Austra did not lay one. I guess it will take a while before she gets up to speed...

four for four, that soft shattered shell egg dropped on the poop box that I mentioned a few days ago seems to be an innocuous anomaly, as she has laid three good firm eggs since then.

That has been my experience. Weird stuff just happens every once in a great while. Maybe a soft or no shell egg, maybe a puny one, maybe a whopper. But on average, a given chicken is fairly predictable for egg color and size

5/5 for the first time ever!

Congrats on the first 100% day!. My daughter would love to get purple eggs.

She is already up to speed

Given how late she laid 2 days ago, I'm not surprised she didn't lay yesterday. Almost guaranteed to lay today and probably earlier than later.

7 both Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm pretty sure I got a "first" egg from both of the girls that were broody until last week. I hope they have that out of their systems for ever now. No rooster, no fertile eggs and you can NOT hatch pine shavings, no matter ow hard you try.

5 eggs from 6 hens. Yesterday was only 3 though. Most days we've been averaging 5. And last week we got one that was a double-yolker...looked like a goose egg!
Wow, that's a flashback. I haven't seen a double yolk in... 20 plus years.

I was consistently getting 8 eggs from 9 hens. Recent predatory action had decreased that to 4 or 5 from 6 hens. I haven't checked this morning but yesterday was 5.
