How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Eight from fourteen hens today. I'm egg-static!

Only 5 eggs Thursday.

I'm not surprised it wasn't more than 8 since:
- The Favs JUST started again after being broody.
- I don't expect any more than 1 every 3 or 4 days from each of the Cuabalayas, though they were better the first 2 weeks in February.

But:
- A little surprised at Echo taking off 2 consecutive days. She hasn't done that since Mid Feb. But she did just come off a 9 day streak so I guess she's just taking a deserved break.
- Andromeda sometimes takes a day or 2 off but usually after laying 5 or more days in a row. She took off the 10th and 11th, laid the 12th and 13th, then took yesterday off.
- The Partridge Chanteclers have been doing great since the end of January , 4 to 6 days in a row mostly (both had a 9 day streak) , so I was surprised they both took yesterday off after only 1 and 3 consecutive days.

I need Gifa's "reliable" girls to explain how things are supposed to go to my less reliable ones

Maybe they caught a chill running around in the rain on Wednesday. Apparently they foolishly thought Spring had sprung since there was no snow on the ground and it was over 50F the prior three days.

Hmmm only 1/3 today. Maybe being chased by the neighbour's dog the day before yesterday has had more of an effect than I thought

Or maybe they're suffering the same as bruceha's flock - three gorgeous days with lovely warm sunshine, then woke up to a sprinkling of snow and a freezing north wind yesterday morning - it's enough to put anyone off laying

I am starting to wonder if your girls are laying in some secret nest somewhere... you let them free range, yes?

Mine are confined to their coop and run all but the last 30-40 minutes of the day, and they are supervised for their out of coop experiences.

And their run is tarped up with a clear tarp to keep most of the wind and weather off of them... It also warms them up during the day too... For example, it's 84 degrees and 31% relative humidity in their coop right now... I just went out there and saw saffron holding her wings out to dump heat like she did all last summer. And because of how the tarped run and coop is ventilated, the structure lets go of that heat really slow overnight... which helps to soften the daily hi-low temp swings and creates a slightly more stable climate (fewer changes) in their space.

The snow was off putting to them, mostly because of how WHITE their view was for a couple of weeks... My ladies seem to have an aversion to this color... whether it's a hand towel, my winter coat, a stepladder or the snow... they are afraid of the color white for some reason.

Yes, but I don't think they are laying outside.
10 eggs today

Everyone but one Cubalaya and one Easter Egger
. My wife said the EE was on the ramp in the outside run looking in the window. Silly bird, she has to fly over the 4' fence from the ground to get in there, why didn't she just fly back over to get in the barn? Heck, starting from the top of the ramp, she wouldn't even have to gain elevation and it is only about 6' from the fence. My wife and daughter looked in the run so see if she maybe laid out there since she is the EE that didn't lay today or yesterday. Found nothing but if she doesn't lay tomorrow, definitely time to keep a watch on her.

You sure the white snow doesn't just blind them? Sure got to me on Monday when the sun was out and I kept going out through the dark mud room to check for eggs.
