How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

7 eggs from 17 of our hens. Not sure if this is normal for young layers? Figured we'd have more by now.
Do you have artificial lighting? If not, that may be the reason. How long have they been laying? I have some girls that laid regularly from the first egg and others that laid sporadically for several months before finding their groove.

No artificial lighting...yet. I'm still debating whether or not I want them laying through winter. If I do use lighting, will the red heat lamp be enough? We are going to put one in when it gets colder just to take the edge off the biting cold. I read somewhere that it would suffice but I may need to do more research.

Red light won't trigger laying, but something as simple as a string of Christmas lights will work. The trick is to have enough light to read a newspaper for 14 hours total. My white Christmas lights come on at 4:30 and off at 8, then on at 5:30 and off at 6:30. Some people say only to add light in the morning so they don't get plunged into darkness and stuck off the roost, but my girls never seem to have a problem.

I didn't get any,,,,although I have a sultan so very limited laying,,,I have a Rhode rock who should be laying and isnt the. My partridge star,,,lilac blue and speckledy are new so off the laying a bit :(

I'm still getting 6/6 daily from my RSLs. I have a 60 watt bulb that comes on at about 3am until 8am. Guess it's doing the trick! We'll see what happens when the really cold, snowy, short days come!

The girls seems happy with the fall weather so far.

Just one, and it was cracked :/ My girls all had a bad scare with a dog getting in the coop a few days ago and I suspect they might egg strike on me. They've all been a bit off their feed and my best layer was one of the ones the dog roughed up.

scratch that. I got two late ones! so 3/6 (we added a 12 week old pullet yesterday, so no eggs from her for a while!)
