We got 7 outta 10 today! And it's probably 2 degrees and 10+ inches of snow that just fell yesterday and today! So happy they're still laying!

Beautiful!! I have a BCM x Barred Rock hen that has just started laying...


She's only been laying for around 4 weeks... the 6 eggs on the right are hers, with the 2 in the middle she laid in the last 3 days.

Yes... I have a Black Copper Marans rooster (that I adopted from someone on craigslist) that I mated with my Buffs, Red Stars & Barred Rock hens.

I plan on hatching a few of her eggs this spring. - To see if I can get an even darker egg.

In my main chicken yard, 52 hens and today I got 29 eggs. I have a mixed flock; some aren't old enough to lay, and I have a few that might be too old.... and many that lay 2-3 eggs a week. But it's a pretty flock, with a huge variety of chickens;
in my breeding pens, 1 silkie egg (in the incubator), 1 Polish, and one in my for sale coop.....

Pretty hen! I was looking at the Rooster in the first of the 3 pics on the first page. It's a pretty small picture but it looks like he has a rose comb. Is that the case? I don't see any points on it.

15/20. But this should count for 2! She's been laying one of these per week. Thought they were double yolkers at first. She's a retired lt brahma from privett hatchery program.

That is amazing!! Poor old chook!!
