How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Only 13/24 today, once again we are experiencing frigid temps. The sun may of been shinning today, but it forgot to tell mother nature to be warm as well, lol.

From what I read on BYC it is not the norm, but it can happen on occassion.

it's not unheard of, but a good surprise to both.... sometimes there will be a second egg minus the shell just the sack holding the egg together an smaller nickel sized.. you might think of it as a seed starter? lol

Yep, that's right. I had it happen once - and I physically saw her lay both eggs. She is an Easter Egger, so there was no confusing her with one of the other girls - each one looks totally different. She was on the nest and laid while I was out there cleaning the poop board and gathering eggs when she stood up, turned around halfway, and dropped the first egg. Went out later on in the evening to lock up and she was back on the nest. I thought that was odd, but then she stood up again and dropped that second egg. Never had it happen again, but it can happen!
