I can't tell how many hens I have. Bought some, sold some. I think there's 21

yesterday: 13/21

....it doesn't help that they sometimes multiply unbeknownst to us!

Well, I was gonna try hatching some cream legbars, but it turns out, my rooster is sterile. Person who sold/sent him to me didn't tell me he was frostbitten, and stupid me forgot to ask to see a picture.

8/21 so far today

They wouldn't go out this morning and I don't blame them, so I closed the coop until it got up to about 5*F and coaxed them out with fresh greens and scratch.
At least they seemed to like the late day sunshine.

Shoot, I culled 7 Cream legbar roo's from 3 hatches a few months ago... I would have gladly given you some of those. I'll bet someone has some spares from hatches they would be willing to give you. So sorry you got a sterile roo.

How many CCL hens do you have? I had bad luck with 3 hatches, ended up with only 3 pullets (2 were half Easter egger), and only one beautiful CCL pullet. I am collecting her eggs and hoping to bring my hens up. I have 3 old ones, One who has a giant comb and no crest, and one perfect young one. I'm hoping to have better luck this year.

13/23 - 4 from EE crew. We culled and processed our 2nd in command rooster after a big brawl between the two roo's. Forty minute fight, we have video camera pointed that way. Both were very bloody.

Hope the girls can get back to focusing on laying now that drama is over.
