How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Pleeeeaaase post pictures of your new chicky's!!!! Have anymore hatched?

I've never heard of Black Penedesenca chickens, so I looked them up. They sound like a really great breed to have! They are suppose to be good layers, are you finding that to be true?
I'm on day 9, out of 23 eggs, 14 are developing!!! I'm hoping for a good hatch of Cream legbars!
@minnehaha
I thought I'd chime in on this extremely rare breed.

I just posted this elsewhere.

Penedesenca are chickens from the Penedes region in the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain. They and the Empordanesa from the Emporda region, also in Catalonia, are the only chickens in the world with white earlobes yet lay a brown egg. They're also the only ones that are supposed to have a carnation comb. The brown egg is one of the darkest eggs in the chicken world.

There are 4 varieties. Partridge, wheaten and crele are the egg varieties. The black is the only DP variety. The Black Penedesenca is famous in Spain for the quality of its meat. There is a foodie festival the last weekend before Christmas every year to celebrate the bird. Fira del Gall or Fair of the Rooster celebrates the revival of the famous cock of Penedes - the Black Penedesenca rooster - the star of the show. The festival is primarily about wine and poultry. Penedes is one of the first wine regions of Europe. There are exhibitions of chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, wine tastings and food competitions with restaurants all preparing dishes with the Penedesenca as the main course.
There are pens of live roosters that people can select. They sell for $50 each and they're processed right there and that is the choice for Christmas dinner.

It would kill me to have to leave for work while hatching is going on!!!!!! I hope you have a good hatch.

I thought that the Marans' were the only chocolate egg layers! I am very interested!!! I'll have to look more into them!
Marans, Penedesencas, Welsummers and some lines of Barnevelders and Langshans lay dark eggs.
I had Welsummers and loved the dark eggs so wanted to try another breed. I realized the Marans was common but Penedesencas were very rare. Being me, I wanted something more obscure so I searched for them for a couple years before the opportunity to obtain them came up. After more than 30 breeds, they have become my favorite breed.

Black austrolop All my birds are... Problem I've noticed... My hens don't want to squat for my evil beast of a roo.... He chases them all over the yard and has to tackle them.... Before the attack last month they were in party mode all the time...

Did the predetor attack scare them out of 'that' mood?
Weird, or maybe he is so rough they don't like him!

So excited to get some chickens today. When I get back and get them settled I will post pictures. Happy Saturday everyone.
It was hard to let so many of my girls go, but I know Kendrain will take good care of them. I'm proud of myself for only tearing up once! It was over my 2 Red Stars.

Those girls are lap chickens, I still have 4 left, and 4 will fit better in my lap!!!

It is amazing how sweet and friendly that particular production breed is, they lay tons of eggs and act like little lap doggies!

The girls she bought laid lots of eggs while penned up waiting to go to their new home. It made me happy that we collected those eggs together and we put them in a carton so she could take them home! She will be able to show her husband how good of egg layers they are! I won't say any numbers, because she gets to post them as part of her count today!!!

My husband came right out and started talking to them. Here chickens come on out. It was great. I hope the weather stays pleasant and everyone starts to mingle soon. I will take a good picture of my new collection of eggs tomorrow. I feel my chicken family is complete, (at least for this season) ;)
