Your too funny, Minnehaha. I'm sure that the strike is due to the cold snap headed our way. I am setting up everything first thing in the morning for my new arrivals and the other girls so they are comfy to take on the weather change. Our pigs and goats are also getting a little pampered along with preparation. And just to let everyone know, I have exhausted my family and friends co workers, etc. with my craziness. Lol

WHAT COLD SNAP???? Oh darn...I thought it was officially spring! I guess Ol' man winter has to go out with a bang! I better look at the weather report....

Wait, who needs a weather report, the wind is absolutely howling outside!

I have 3 incubators-2 are going with the 96 eggs and I'm just waiting for the eggs for the 3rd to arrive

So far just the 1 has hatched. 3 others have external pips that I can see without breaking lockdown! These are my first Black Penedesencas. I bought the eggs from Chicken Canoe here on BYC.
They lay a real dark (chocolate) egg. I'm bummed that I have to work in the morning, I want to sit and watch them hatch! I will post pictures when I have more chicks. the first one is still drying out & resting, but has been up on it's feet and moving around some.
Good luck with your hatch!! I've never had Cream Legbars.

It would kill me to have to leave for work while hatching is going on!!!!!! I hope you have a good hatch.

I thought that the Marans' were the only chocolate egg layers! I am very interested!!! I'll have to look more into them!

Black austrolop All my birds are... Problem I've noticed... My hens don't want to squat for my evil beast of a roo.... He chases them all over the yard and has to tackle them.... Before the attack last month they were in party mode all the time...

Did the predetor attack scare them out of 'that' mood?

My husband gets tired of my constant yammering about them.

Sad thing is HES the one who got them, wants to add 40-50 more meat birds in a separate pen and was talking about goats and a mini-cow to me last week....

I'll tend anything we get and once the intrigue is gone they will become 'mine'. That suddenly it will be 'me' who wanted them... I don't mind but he needs to step up on the care. At least get my new coop and run up... It's Saturday and as far as I know he's work free. Hummmmm will he work on my yard or...... play all day...

9 today and 1 of my Black Penedesenca Eggs hatched today! Tomorrow is day 21 for them. 1 other has a tiny pip & another is rocking. I set 9 black Penedesenca eggs & 1 olive egg.

4/4 for the second day in a row. That makes 18 so far this week with 1 day to go!

It had been a long dry spell!
