My goodness! How many laying hens do you have?

I have 25 layers, but they are prolific layers and the eggs really stack up fast!

Still trying to figure out how to navigate the site. Quite frankly I'm tickled pink to find so many people on here who understand my OCD. And am super stoked to get my new girls. I have a few people who are willing to buy eggs and I love giving them to my family as little "gifts". But am always open to a good barter too. Lol

If it were not for this site, most of us would bore our friends and family to death with chicken talk. Thank God for this site!

6/7 today... Wow... Wouldn't be surprised if one was trying to go broody though... I found one trying to hide her egg under the old truck bed linner I put out there to give them a eagle/hawk hide... She hissed and barked at me when I moved her.

Sounds like broody-ville to me! What breed is she?

9 today and 1 of my Black Penedesenca Eggs hatched today! Tomorrow is day 21 for them. 1 other has a tiny pip & another is rocking. I set 9 black Penedesenca eggs & 1 olive egg.

Pleeeeaaase post pictures of your new chicky's!!!! Have anymore hatched?

I've never heard of Black Penedesenca chickens, so I looked them up. They sound like a really great breed to have! They are suppose to be good layers, are you finding that to be true?
I'm on day 9, out of 23 eggs, 14 are developing!!! I'm hoping for a good hatch of Cream legbars!

Sooooo tired today.....busy day! I even cleaned the chicken coop to impress Kendrain, she is coming to buy hens from me tomorrow!

My girls are on strike, I think they are reeling from the loss of their friends. They are noticing that some of their friends have been sold....this makes me feel so bad....

Your too funny, Minnehaha. I'm sure that the strike is due to the cold snap headed our way. I am setting up everything first thing in the morning for my new arrivals and the other girls so they are comfy to take on the weather change. Our pigs and goats are also getting a little pampered along with preparation. And just to let everyone know, I have exhausted my family and friends co workers, etc. with my craziness. Lol

WOW!!!!!  That is a lot of eggs incubating!!!!   You must have a really nice big bater?

I have 3 incubators-2 are going with the 96 eggs and I'm just waiting for the eggs for the 3rd to arrive

So far just the 1 has hatched. 3 others have external pips that I can see without breaking lockdown! These are my first Black Penedesencas. I bought the eggs from Chicken Canoe here on BYC.
They lay a real dark (chocolate) egg. I'm bummed that I have to work in the morning, I want to sit and watch them hatch! I will post pictures when I have more chicks. the first one is still drying out & resting, but has been up on it's feet and moving around some.
Good luck with your hatch!! I've never had Cream Legbars.
