2 new chicks hatched out today

Molted Houdan chicks

Now these guys are just a bunch of feather heads when they get older

More eggs will go into the incubator hopefully soon

I have 2 white leghorns, 2 black sex link, 2 Rhode Island red, and 2 gold sex link. I've been getting 8 eggs a day for about 2-1/2 months. For the last week I'm only getting 6 a day. I get 2 white eggs, so I know they're doing the job. Any ideas as to who is not laying?

well none so far today.. but I think my favourite is having trouble with hers. She has spent 5 hours (Frfriday and sunday each) in the nest box panting and straining and nothing. Eating, drinking, walking and pooping well but nothing..... I felt her up this morning I could swear she has 2 inside her. So i gave her a warm bath, some calcium supplement and got really intimate with her vent and KY jelly...couldnt feel anything inside her only when I feel her stomach from outside. She is not in obvious pain or distress but she didnt like being away from the other 3 so put her back with them. I am hoping I am wrong here. otherwise its a trip to the vet. first time chicken keeping and they are 23 weeks old.... trust this to happen to me! lol

4 today. Hoping my others start laying soon. I have a couple younger ones who are showing a little bit of interest in the nesting boxes, my 2 cochins, forget it, they are boogers!

another 7 egg day and no broken ones!!. 6 from lighted coop & 1 from unlighted coop. 1 of the Black Penedesenca pullets was checking out the nest boxes, maybe she is finally ready to get down to business. Hopefully!

11/16, I got 13 yesterday. Which was the most ever. So I'm only sure of 13 of the 16 laying.
