Also, only 1 silkie egg again yesterday.

A weasel got into my run and killed one of them. But I left her outside the run while we were reinforcing it and low and behold it returned. I did shoot it so one less predator running around. She was attacked around 11:30 in the afternoon and it showed back up around 3.

A year and a half ago, a mink got into one building after another and in six nights it killed every bird in 6 buildings and left me with one flock.

This is so awful! I'm so sorry guys. Those critters are clever and can squeeze in through small spots ( so I hear), hopefully no more return.

I modified all the buildings so no opening larger than 1/2".
After raising chickens here for over 100 years (3 generations) we never had mink till last year.
You just never know but if you build it, they will come.

I still have only one layer in a flock of five that are now 28 weeks. It's getting quite frustrating, but thank goodness for Hero Hen or I'd have nothing!

ok my hens are around six months old and are not laying yet I do have five reds that are a year and a half and a pair of barred rock someone is laying because i get two eggs. WANT MORE lol
What do I do to get more eggs and to have them lay though the winter?

I have a broody hen and she is sitting on 5 eggs and she was the best layer.........................and then she went broody.

Our first two egg day. Means 2 out of the 4 girls are laying now. They Wyandottes are 4 weeks older than the Americaunas and I hear they are slow. So, easy guess there.
