How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Got my 5th! I went out to check on the chickens, give some foliage, and hang out with them for a few. When I got out there I noticed Quail was being "whiny" and going on and out of the coop. One of the bigger pullets was chasing her back out. So, I distracted the bigs with the foliage, and stood guard in the doorway. Quail went to the nesting box, and sure enough within just a short time (idk, maybe 10-15 or less, didn't time track) she laid an egg.

I've never had to actually stand guard before. She's been laying for a couple weeks now. All the other girls had already laid and I collected earlier, so not sure what the issue was, but I took care of it by not letting the offending pullet back in until Quail was done (and offending pullet was a little more than ****** too lol).

Well only seven from the big girls so far today and we have a buff Orpington that thinks now seems like a good time to go broody. Lol poor baby I promised her she can have eggs in the spring. But we got three eggs from the littles today one from my bantam barred cochin, one from I'm guessing my buff silkie and the first egg from my little self blue oegb I got to see her lay and I was cheering up a storm! Poor baby I could tell she was miserable. The big girls better get their vents in gear or the littles may catch them at this rate lol. :)

On a less happy note s few days ago I lost three seven week old chicks to cocci. I am happy to report that the three remaining ones seem a bit better today and are eating moistened chick starter now. Hoping I've gotten them through it and that they will be okay. I lost the two cockerals and one pullet. One of the cockerals and the pullet were ccl/black Orpington crosses and the other cockeral was a pure black 50% English orp.
