How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

1 egg for 11 hens, I am getting frustrated. The hens are now 24 weeks and I have been getting one egg a day for 12 days. only one hen is laying. Whats up with this.

Only one hen's comb and wattles have turned bright red. The others are still pale and small, this is why I way it is one hen.

Well shoot! I have 10 hens this will be their second winter. They all stopped laying about a week ago. All are a year and a half, all are ornamental breeds. We had a hawk scare about 3 weeks ago, one of the hens got out and we couldn't find her, we free range but have fishing line above the whole free range area so Hawks can't get in. But one hen did get out and we reinforced that and now is secure. When the one got out and we couldn't find her, the next morning, she had got eaten at night looked like an owl. Anyone have any ideas why they would completely stop laying? We give them pellets and dinner scrapes. Haven't given them any scratch in about 2 weeks. They get bread, Mac & cheese, taters, any left overs we have but we don't have left overs daily, just maybe twice a week. ANY THOUGHTS

Quote: maybe they're traumatized or molting?

I have 10 hens, of the few that were laying, we had a hawk scare and they didn't lay for a few days before resuming. The hawk didn't get them, but it was close enough to traumatize them (it dipped down from a neighbor tree and came within inches of the top of the run, which is covered, before startling when I came running out the back door and it heard it slam).

Only 4 eggs today, it's been raining & overcast the last couple of days, although we did get to see the sun today!

Well I see the weather is rolling in on you also and it is affecting your egg production as well not good I do not get the type of rain here as you get out there where you are but the winds here are really getting my egg production down except for the webbed footed animals who rather seem to enjoy the wet and windy weather but back to the chickens even the control group chickens are slowing down and they are in the shed on dry floor and yes some wind gets in from the open windows but it is still dry and there is lighting all night so the shorter days and longer nights should not be the problem and my Russian Orloff's who should be giving me 3 eggs each per week have not given me 1 egg in 16 days lazy chickens but my Marans and Easter Eggers are just putting out at a slower rate but still producing so I have been thinking about putting the Marans in the coop for fertile eggs and pulling the RO's out ....

Enjoy you rain as the ground needs it

We finally got all 10 of the pullets laying this week and had our first 10 egg day! The last girls to lay were the two Buff Orpingtons, the largest birds in our mixed flock. I am thrilled to finally have them all laying!
