How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I found a nice, easy (and fairly inexpensive) way to keep the waterer from freezing. I bought a single 8' x 8' cinder block, put a 25 watt light bulb inside it and set the waterer on top of the cinder block. I then found a temperature controlled plug that turns on at around 35 degrees and off again when it goes up to about 40 degrees. It works like a charm and I never have to worry about frozen water.

5 of the 5 that are laying, and I collected all of them pretty early compared to when some of them lay. 2 took the day off yesterday though, so I wasn't surprised to find theirs in there early. My EE though, she usually lays afternoon/early evening so I was a little surprised she laid so early. :) It doesn't seem like my other 5 plan to any time soon *doh*. Though a couple of the EE combs are really developed nicely now!

Just got my first eggs three days ago from Fannie, one of my Jersey Giants. They are rather smaller because she's new to laying, but the shells are quite strong and light brown.

She laid her first egg three days ago and has laid one egg daily since then. I'm hoping my other JJ, Lucky will soon follow suit. :)

Don't despair...my JJs are now almost 8 months old now and just started laying. They'll start when they're ready. :)

2 of 9: hard to tell but thinking these are from Grace and Jaci our Speckled Sussex.
One started the 19 th and hasn't missed a day. The other started today.
On The 20th my Golden Compine, Florence, gave one nice white egg.
An exciting week for first flock.
Waiting on the 2 Buff Orpington gals and 2 RIR 's
