4/8 today. Seems that's going to be the norm for now.

7 out of my 8 layers! Still waiting on the younger ones to start laying. I have a little wait ahead of me tho.

Question about pre layers practicing? I have one that while still had a paler comb she is turning redder by the day. Hubby through he heard one doing a laying call a long while after my 2 regulars had laid a few days ago. And from time to time I see her in the yard squatting, but not nestled on the ground like she and the others normally do. Like an inch off the ground rather then fully sitting. She is the only one I've seen do this. Is this all a part of practice?

Btw 2/2 today I think that put Henrietta up to 5 days in a row, but I still have to calender it to be sure

2 chicken eggs today

1 egg from the control group

1 egg from the free range chickens

0 from the ducks

1 more MH hatched this morning and another has been working all after noon to free itself from the confinement of the shell but I think the high winds are keeping intimidating the little gal

Temp,,,, Went out side around 3 am and the temp was down to 62 degrees and a high today of 71 degrees but the wind is 30 mph with gusts that make the house rattle and only one hen is roosting in the coop all the rest are out on the front porch or near a fence under the brush as the wind is blowing them off the fence and several of the hens choose to roost on top of the metal trash cans used for storing feed and the rubber maid trash cans are left untouched

A dozen yesterday four from the littles 8 from the big girls. Don't have a number for today yet.

2/8 today. None went in my fridge though. While capturing an errant roo I forgot they were in my pocket and broke them. What a mess!
