How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

1/4 again. All 4 disappeared into the coop earlier and I was hopeful... checked when they came out and nada... then 2 went into the coop a few hours later, my laying BO and my stubborn barred rock.... checked when they came out and one egg. 99% sure it was my orph again.

They gotta lay eventually, right? We're going on 36 weeks here...

7 eggs today.

flood clean up is going well.  The real trick is finding out how to fix the problem so it doesn't happen again.  We live on a hill, the water was coming from the over saturated ground!
The small city/town that I work in is under a "boil only" order.  The water plant went under water.  I am a teacher & the school I teach in is located in this town, as well as 3 elementary schools.
The students return to school tomorrow.  The school district brought in cases of water for the students to drink since they can't use the drinking fountains.  They are planning to modify lunch menus to lessen the amount of water needed to prepare the meals.
Some of the local fast food restaurants have had to shut down temporarily due to low water pressure (toilets not able to flush).  The National Guard has been trucking in water for the town.
Most of the roads are now open.  A lot of people had it way worse than me!  I saw houses almost completely under water!  A co-worker has a rental property that had 14 inches of water in the basement. My basement is now dry.  We'll have to replace the carpet & probably some of the wood framing.  The bathroom & the 2 bedrooms either have linoleum flooring or concrete floors, so there wasn't much damage there.
We aren't sure how long the boil order will last.

Its fairly common here (ireland) for whole areas including towns and cities to be on boil water notices for months or even years. The water system here is terrible. The water gets contaminated with cryptospridium (sorry about spelling on that) and the treatment systems often can't treat for that so then its boil water until they can afford an upgrade. One of the areas near us finally had their boil water notice lifted a few months ago
They had been boiling their water since 2009.

I got these yesterday. I have ten chickens and I love the variety of color! The white one is from my polish who finally started laying 2 days ago. She is over 8 months old! i have a blue Cochin but she did not lay this day...she is very skittish and does not let me pet her, I know she has laid because one day I had 9 eggs and my Polish had not laid her first egg yet.

Brahmas are a large fowl like Cochins and grow slower so egg laying is longer in coming too. I know it drives me nuts too! they should lay soon good luck!

I hope so. My husband said if they weren't laying by christmas he'd eat them for Christmas dinner. I told him that wouldn't be giving them a fair chance and they'll probably start in spring. Our winter days are only 7 hours long and so dark and gloomy so it'll probably take until the days are a bit longer. I had hoped the one who started laying in October would continue over winter, but she went broody in December.

i got 3 BA hens and 4 pullets. And 0 eggs since November. I just got 2 black Marians, a leghorn, and 3 EE hoping to pick up the slack. If they don't get better I'll be selling stew not eggs![/
